Computer Science has always been my passion. Back in High School, I won bronze and gold medals in the National Contest of Computer Programming. Later I finished my B.S. in Information Technology, receiving a Summa Cum Laude and the Best Graduated In Research Award. I was always top of my class, and I started working as a freelance software developer, even before graduating. But back then, I didn’t know how much I was going to enjoy working in this field. Fast-forwarding a few years, after moving permanently to the United States, I started working as a Lead developer for a company where I was able to get deep inside the industry. My skills got sharper, and I began to get more and more experience as a professional. From there, I was hired by a small company with huge clients. A company that lives on the edge of technology and delivers state of the art software for Fortune 500 corporations. I’ve had the privilege of seeing my team grow to about 50 developers. I’ve helped create a top-notch team that has delivered hundreds of software applications in the past four years. That makes me proud, but it’s time for me to take the next step. I’ve always missed school, the best venue for learning new things, and becoming better at what I love. I continuously seek new courses, conferences, and opportunities to keep up with a fast-paced industry that doesn’t stop. A Master’s degree offers me the chance to step out of my bounds and leap forward towards the future I’ve always had in my plans. The Online Masters offered by Georgia Tech offers several courses that I believe will round my skills in unprecedented ways. Specifically, Machine Learning is one of the topics at the top of my mind. At this time, a lot of research is happening in this area, and I’d love to contribute to the conversation. Georgia Tech provides one of the most reputable Computer Science programs in the United States. Their Online model is even more accessible since it will allow me to combine research with my day job. Having the possibility of applying all the acquired new knowledge every day is one of the main reasons I’d like to get into the program. I know this is a challenge. A challenge I’m very excited about, and like I’ve always done before, a challenge that I will transform in a successful story. I’m very excited and look forward to joining Georgia Tech as a graduate student at the Computer Science department.
